Three new vans in November

Wilds of Oldham are pleased to announce they are buying three new vehicles during November, in preparation of the busy festive period.

Two of the vans are simply replacement vehicles to replace two of the older "battered and bruised" vans in the fleet, but the third vehicle is our second 6.5T vehicle.

The larger vehicle gives us added capacity to handle some of the bigger delivery runs that we are now doing. This takes the fleet to 10 vehicles, enabling us to give the level of service expected of us by our customers.

All drivers at Wilds to undergo training courses during 2012

By the end of 2012, all drivers employed by Wilds will have achieved either their "Drivers Certificate of Professional Competance (DCPC)" or a certificate in "Driving Goods Vehicles (DGV)". Drivers who are eligible to drive the larger vehicles will take the DCPC, whilst the transit drivers will take the DGV.

Both courses give the staff recognised qualifications and cover such things:-  "Safe & Fuel Efficient Driving" and "Safe and Secure Loading". The aim is to make our drivers more professional and be trained to give an even higher level of customer service.

250x250_fitbox-mark_law_golf_2011.jpegBury Golf Club - "Wilds of Oldham" Open - Monday 22nd August 2011

Wilds of Oldham were proud sponsors of Bury Golf Club's Open Competition for 2011 as part of their supply agreement with the club. The day was well blessed with sunshine and the course was in superb condition - more than I can say about some of the dress code on show!! (thanks Mark)

We entered 10 teams into the Open and invited customers and suppliers to join us. We had a competition amongst ourselves and Jerry Shedden (Inbev UK) and Paul Marklew (Timothy Taylors) walked away with the first prize.

The banter flowed in the post match analysis (over a meal and some beer!), before we all departed to various parts of the country. We would once again like to thank everyone who joined us and for the generous items of sponsorship from our suppliers that we were able to convert into an excellent prize table.

Next year we plan to make the day bigger and better, so make sure you let us know if you are a keen golfer (you don't have to be good) and we will put you on the list for next year.

SNOW & ICE CAN'T PREVENT WILDS FROM DELIVERING TO ITS' CUSTOMERS

After deciding it was too dangerous to attempt any deliveries on Tuesday 5th Jan, the service was back to normal on Wednesday 6th Jan. Side roads and car parking areas remain difficult but the employees at Wilds have gone about their business and made important deliveries for our customers. (06/1/10)

Wilds of Oldham eventually moved into their new premises on Arkwright Street, giving us double the amount of storage storage space. We have taken the decision not to offer a "cash & carry" facility but instead there is large reception area where customers can discuss their requirements, then sit down and have a drink whilst we pick the order.
